About the current exhibition
Lee Kok Hong
Lee Kok Hong is a 75 year-old artist who suffered a devastating stroke fifteen years ago, leaving him paralysed on the right side of his body. With the help of his loving and loyal wife and family, the former school bus-driver fought to recover a standard of living where he could enjoy and treasure the remainder of his life. Through years of physical therapy, he regained enough movement to drag himself around, and he reembraced painting, switching to his left hand to produce dream-like landscapes and seascapes that evoke romantic melancholy and longing, along with the ecstasy of nature and imagination. Lee Kok Hong has produced thousands of paintings since his stroke, and he continues to inspire others by exhibiting his work to support good causes, such as the 150th anniversary of his children’s former middle school. It is fitting that his works are exhibited here at Kneading Peace, as this building has long been part of the family of the artist’s wife, Chew Hong Luan.
