At Same Skies, we believe people affected by displacement should have the power and opportunity to shape the decisions and solutions that affect their lives.
By strengthening refugee-led organisations and the people behind them, we help create the conditions for communities to lead their own solutions, build stronger organisations and influence the systems around them.
Redefining refugee protection
For millions of refugees, displacement is not temporary. Many spend years – even decades – in countries where they have limited access to work, education, legal protection and meaningful participation in decisions that affect their lives. Yet the people living through these realities are often furthest from the resources and decisions intended to address them. We believe this needs to change.
Refugees are too often seen primarily through the lens of need. We see people with knowledge, ideas, relationships and the ability to shape solutions for their own communities.
Our role is not to lead those solutions, but to help create the conditions in which refugee-led organisations can lead, make decisions and grow. We provide the resources, connections and support that organisations need to strengthen their work and have greater influence over the issues that affect their communities.

Our refugee-led partners
We work alongside refugee-led organisations that are creating solutions for their own communities.
Each organisation is different. Some focus on education, others on livelihoods, youth empowerment, health, advocacy or community development. What they share is ownership: refugee leaders identify priorities, make decisions and lead the work.
Our role is to provide the support, resources and connections that help their organisations become stronger and their work go further.
Today, we work with eight refugee-led organisations across Indonesia, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
